The San Jose Earthquakes didn't offer us fans the opportunity to attend a preseason match at the San Jose Earthquake stadium. It seems that there are some issues in the front office as this season thus far has been somewhat disorganized. I've been a season ticket holder for some time, and there was a lack of collaboration. In years past season ticket holders were provided a preseason game, a phone call from a member of the staff to share their appreciation and ample time to plan for events.
The Earthquakes closed their preseason with a 3-1 defeat to USL Championship side the Sacramento Republic on Friday, February 21st. The match was a closed-door exhibition at the San Jose Earthquakes Stadium. (Formally Avaya) With only 1 goal, it was the rare low-scoring preseason match from them, after scoring 11 goals across their last three preseason outings.
Below is a recap for the game:
Goals
- 7' - SAC - Cam Iwasa
- 11' - SAC - Drew Skundrich
- 13' - SJ - Andy Rios
- 29' - SAC - Drew Skundrich
